Welcome. My name is Edwina Giddings (MAR, FHT). I am a fully qualified Therapist offering to ladies (and men by referral) the deeply relaxing treatments of REFLEXOLOGY, REFLEXOLOGY LYMPH DRAINAGE and INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE from the tranquil setting of my Garden Room in Clanfield. I take great care in providing personalised treatments to meet the needs of the individual client. I can also provide a local mobile service (for clients with restricted mobility). I am also employed as a Treatment Support Reflexologist for patients living with cancer at a hospital.
In line with government guidelines, stringent cleaning is in place. Clients may also wish to bring their own drink of water and their own blanket to keep them snuggly throughout the treatment.

Reflexology is an ancient practice dating back approximately 5000 years. It is a very relaxing treatment which works on the premise that your body is mapped out via the nervous system on the bottom of your feet and that by the gentle massage of different areas of the feet it stimulates the corresponding part of the body, removing energy blockages in that area and restoring balance to the body in order for it to achieve homeostasis. See list of possible benefits below.
I am trained in Reflexology Lymph Drainage by Sally Kay. Mirroring the sequence of Manual Lymph Drainage, the Reflexes on the feet are gently massaged with the aim of reducing excess lymph build up. This is a relaxing treatment using massage and friction techniques to stimulate blood flow and relax muscles. It begins by the massage of the upper back, shoulders and upper arms to release muscular tension before moving on to the neck, face and scalp. Lower arms and hands can also be added. This is a great therapy and may be very beneficial for anyone suffering from stress and /or carries tension in their shoulders / suffers from tensions headaches or sits at a computer or drives for long periods of time. See list of possible benefits below.

Wherever possible I try to be environmentally friendly in my business. The electricity supply to the garden room is solar powered (when the sun is out!) or supplied by 100% renewable energy via Green Energy UK, I use eco-friendly bamboo towels, detergents, recycled paper for business cards / leaflets and naturally derived skin care products such as Organic Reflexology balm. I am also an Ambassador for Tropic Skin care (see my Tropic Skin Care Shop page) for those interested in multi-award winning naturally derived, toxin-free skin care from a carbon neutral company.
Everybody is different so not everyone responds in the same way to a treatment but here is a list of the possible benefits of Reflexology:
The effects of Relaxation on the body:
The benefits of relaxation on the body are often over looked. When the body is relaxed optimal hormonal balance is achieved, aiding all essential bodily functions such as sleep, reproduction, growth and repair, digestion etc. Stress plays a huge role in modern life and consists of demands placed on physical or mental energy. When the body is stressed it enters the "fight or flight" mode, sending blood to our muscular skeletal system, whereas other systems of the body such as digestion begin to shut down. Long-term stress can lead to a lack of balance between mind body and spirit and lead to "dis-ease", depressing the immune system. Relaxation helps to restore this balance to help us deal more effectively with the inevitable daily challenges we face. Reflexology does this in a natural, non-invasive way by encouraging the body to heal itself by stimulating reflexes and giving the individual a quiet, relaxing time out. Through relaxation Reflexology can aid mood and sleep.
Improved circulation
Every cell of our body needs nutrients and oxygen brought to it and waste products to be removed from it via the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems. When the parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated in relaxation it encourages blood flow to all organs of the body and decreases blood pressure. Massage of the periphery (feet or hands) can help circulation in areas where circulation is often poor (and this can be particularly helpful for diabetics).

Everybody is different so not everyone responds in the same way to a treatment but here is a list of the possible benefits of Indian Head Massage:
Indian Head Massage stimulates blood and lymph flow in the face, head, scalp, muscles, tissues around the joints and endorphins to the brain, carrying oxygen and nutrients to these areas, removing toxins and often improving mood. As well as being relaxing it can reduce mental fatigue and improve clarity of thought.
Tension headaches and eyestrain can also be relieved as well as nasal congestion and sinus problems.
Knots in muscles may be broken down and adhesions around joints loosened reducing stiffness.
